< too fast... too late.. and I'm too tired! >

I don't know whether I'm just suffering from jet lag or I'm just naturally tired... but it seems like the World Cup matches are just flying past me and I can't stay awake for those matches! The matches are starting later and later. Initially the earliest matches start at 9pm, then 10pm, and now 11pm. And I'm like so tired by 9+pm. To be honest, I'm hardly watching any of the matches. And those matches I watch... most of the time I just watch bits and pieces of it.

Like yesterday night's/today morning's matches. I didn't watch the Germany v Sweden one which started at 11pm, because by 9+pm, I somehow dozed off while reading a book in bed. Then in the middle of the night, I woke up around 3am, so I turned on the TV to watch the Argentina v Mexico match. My father also came in and watched. The only TV in my house that's hooked up to Cable TV is in my room you see (I pay for it, so obviously it has to be my room). I watched the match while I was lying in bed... so you can guessed what happened. My eyes kept opening and closing, saw both goals, but other than that, I can tell you I was asleep most of the time. I was aware of half-time, I was aware of Mexico missing chances... and I was aware that it was still 1-1 by the end of 90 minutes... but I hardly saw anything else and my father switched off the TV and went out by the end of the normal time.

Sigh. Maybe I'm just too tired, maybe I'm still suffering from jet lag, or maybe I'm just not too interested in football matches that don't concern my favourite team. The other day when Australia played Croatia, I was so awake I didn't go back to sleep even after the match ended.

And is it just me or are the matches being played at such a fast rate? Today morning I was still feeling happy from Australia's progress into the last 16, still feeling that sense of euphoria, when I opened the papers and realised they play Italy tomorrow. TOMORROW! Isn't that like too fast? I know the World Cup is like only a month, with matches played everyday, but I still can't seem to come to terms with how fast the matches come and go! I wonder how the players come with it. I'm still not over the Croatia match, and now Italy is already coming up. I'm not saying Australia will definitely get knocked out by Italy, but you know... I just wish there was a longer "celebration period" before the next match and I've to start bracing myself for more heart-pumping action.

God.. I just need more time... to get some more sleep, rest and also to calm down a little after every match.

Really can't believe it's already Australia v Italy tomorrow...
